On August 22nd, 2014, Prime Minister Stephen Harper once again rejected the call for a public inquiry into the 1181 cases of missing or murdered aboriginal women across Canada since 1980. Aboriginal women make up 4.3 per cent of the Canadian population, but account for 16…

[images: Three photographs of a printed comic about robots, and two pictures of the raw art without its lettering]

This summer, my friend Shi Anne (website, tumblr) and I have been getting ready to share a booth at fanexpo and one of those things is the debut of our comic, SCRAP. It’s all printed and ready to go now!

In it are two stories: A fifteen page comic that I wrote and Shi Anne illustrated about a robot called Norri telling a story of a mistake, the other is a 24 page story that I drew and Shi Anne wrote about a robot called T looking for another purpose in life. Shi drew the cover and handled the layout and cover, which is gorgeous, by the way. Look at it.

If you’re wondering why I haven’t posted much art in the past few months, I was working on this!

Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act: ‘Null and Void’

In a victory activists were unsure they’d get, Uganda’s Constitutional Court overturned the country’s draconian Anti-Homosexuality Act today, declaring the anti-LGBT law “null and void” because of a parliamentary technicality in how it was passed.

The court determined that when members of Parliament passed the law in December 2013, Speaker Rebecca Kadaga had not established quorum — a required minimum number of members present to vote — effectively invalidating the law.

I was at Walgreens buying my brother a birthday card. An elderly woman was also in the aisle. She said “can you believe they have wedding cards for two men and look even two women!”
[screams internally]
But she then said “I’ve seen so many changes in my 80 years, it’s wonderful how things are moving forward.”
[internal tears of joy]
She then mentioned that she didn’t know any gay people but that everyone should be treated like they would want to be treated. I smiled and said “you know one now” and pointed at myself. She smiled, patted my shoulder and said “now I do”.

oh wow I had no idea. thank you for bringing this to my attention. while I do recognize that the things you listed are problematic, it does not change the fact that I still like it because I realize that liking things that have problematic elements (as most things do) is not necessarily a reflection on my character and personal enjoyment. moreover, knowing this will help me to recognize problematic elements in other things, allowing me make better and more informed choices in the media that I choose to habituate in the future

Stop making books into films and start making them into a tv show so we could have a lot more detail to them and they can stick to the book easier.
