Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act: ‘Null and Void’

In a victory activists were unsure they’d get, Uganda’s Constitutional Court overturned the country’s draconian Anti-Homosexuality Act today, declaring the anti-LGBT law “null and void” because of a parliamentary technicality in how it was passed.

The court determined that when members of Parliament passed the law in December 2013, Speaker Rebecca Kadaga had not established quorum — a required minimum number of members present to vote — effectively invalidating the law.

I was at Walgreens buying my brother a birthday card. An elderly woman was also in the aisle. She said “can you believe they have wedding cards for two men and look even two women!”
[screams internally]
But she then said “I’ve seen so many changes in my 80 years, it’s wonderful how things are moving forward.”
[internal tears of joy]
She then mentioned that she didn’t know any gay people but that everyone should be treated like they would want to be treated. I smiled and said “you know one now” and pointed at myself. She smiled, patted my shoulder and said “now I do”.

oh wow I had no idea. thank you for bringing this to my attention. while I do recognize that the things you listed are problematic, it does not change the fact that I still like it because I realize that liking things that have problematic elements (as most things do) is not necessarily a reflection on my character and personal enjoyment. moreover, knowing this will help me to recognize problematic elements in other things, allowing me make better and more informed choices in the media that I choose to habituate in the future

Stop making books into films and start making them into a tv show so we could have a lot more detail to them and they can stick to the book easier.

I thought this was going to make me annoyed but everything turned out better than expected

A tiger walks into a liquor store…there’s no punchline here.

Is that… a frisbee?

He just wants to play catch

What I love is that it obviously takes the person at the counter a few seconds to process that that is in fact a tiger.
Like, you kinda see their brain going “dog, nope, cat, big cat, big cat with stripes, SHIT, tiger!!!”

I think my favorite part may be the customer who stopped to put down the thing he hadn’t bought yet on his way out the door.
Like, “Yes, I am fleeing from a tiger - but that’s no excuse for shoplifting.”

What was a policeman, if not a civilian with a uniform and a badge? But they tended to use the term [civilian] these days as a way of describing people who were not policemen. It was a dangerous habit: once policemen stopped being civilians, the only other thing they could be was soldiers.
